Last weekend, I had a great dive planned with some good friends including one that I hadn’t seen for a long time but all that was dashed by a cruel virus that I am still recovering from. It can be very tempting to go diving in spite of feeling bad but as a recent article in Alert Diver magazine pointed out, this can not only endanger your health but could also potentially put others in danger – people who may feel compelled to put themselves in danger to help you.
Dave went out with the group and, despite a few problems with some newer divers, they had a great time and everyone got back safe.
Okay, I guess it’s not always a good day to dive in South Florida. Some days are good for inspecting your equipment.

As the ultimate scuba diving gift, any toy loving scuba diver would find it tough to be unimpressed when presented with their own personal submarine. Being able to dive as deep as you want for as long as you want … well, at least as long as the batteries hold out – is something we all covet. Just a few years ago, a personal submarine was something that only the richest of the rich could conceivably afford. More recently, owning your own personal submarine has become attainable – at least for the moderately rich and even us more plebian types can conceivably have a personal submarine experience.
