Well, from all I could see, the Deerfield Beach cleanup under the pier was a resounding success. By the time Dave and I got to the beach at around 8:35 Saturday morning, they had already checked in 150 divers. As you can see, there’s a lot of pier to clean so I’m sure they were busy for the whole morning.

I assume that they were but I don’t know because we saw all the people and bailed.

Update: They were successful – 170+ divers according to Brett at the ScubaBoard. The pictures look great – an octopus and … is that a lionfish?

Dave and I don’t like big crowds – especially when diving so we decided that they had enough help and we went up the road to do a nice quiet shore dive by ourselves. We’re glad that they had such a good response and we’re looking forward to hearing about how much waste they collected. Maybe another year we’ll dive under the pier.
